Barbecue Meatballs

Most people think of Italian-style Spaghetti and Meatballs when they think of meatballs. If you have not given Barbecue Meatballs a try, please do! Cali's Cuisine has adopted this recipe many years ago from a friend in Kansas. The recipe was modified to include more sauce. The secret is in the sauce! (A favorite line from Fried Green Tomatoes.)

Served with potatoes and salad, this is a hearty meal to serve your family.  Bon appetite!

INGREDIENTS:
  • 1 1/2 pounds lean ground beef
  • 1 cup quick oats
  • 1 cup milk
  • 3 tablespoons minced onions (dehydrated onions)
  • 2 cups ketchup
  • 1 cup water
  • 1/4 cup apple cider vinegar
  • 1/4 cup worcestershire sauce
  • 1/2 cup dark brown sugar

DIRECTIONS:
  1. Preheat oven to 350F.
  2. Mix ground beef, oats, milk and chopped onion.  Shape into meatballs and place in 9 x 13" baking dish.
  3. Combine ketchup, water, vinegar, worcestershire sauce and brown sugar.  Pour evenly over meatballs.
  4. Bake 1 1/2 hours.

Enjoyed the recipe. Substituted ground turkey and rice vinegar. Tangy!
